The Practice

Established in 2011, Ottely has developed over fifteen years into a specialist leather practice for interiors, hospitality and retail environments.

That focus has grown from project work where leather needed to do more than sit neatly within a conventional category: not upholstery, not leather goods, and not simply a finish applied at the end.

The result is a practice built around how leather belongs within a space: how it is specified, detailed, handled, used and allowed to age.

Leather that supports the whole

Leather is at its strongest when it contributes to the atmosphere of a space rather than standing apart from it. A menu cover, key fob, wall detail, lamp base or fitted element may be noticed in the moment, but its purpose is larger than its own presence.

We work with the detail, but always in relation to the space around it It should reinforce the language of the interior, support the experience of use and feel inevitable within its setting.

The balance depends on judgement: where emphasis is needed, where restraint matters, and how to make leather feel part of the overall composition without becoming decorative noise.

Discretion is part of the work

Much of our work sits within larger projects, often through designers, contractors and specialist suppliers.

The aim is not to claim attention from the wider scheme, but to help the details hold together.

Built through experience

Ottely’s work is shaped by more than leatherwork alone.

It draws on making, restoration, special effects, years working in Mayfair galleries and the practical demands of resolving pieces where appearance, handling and durability all matter at once.

That background has made the work practical and exacting. Material choice, construction, edge details, installation methods and future use are considered together, so each piece is not simply made well, but made appropriately.

The result is work that fits within demanding interiors, withstands use, and supports the wider design intent.

Who We Work With

We partner with those designing the whole experience, not just specifying materials.

That includes interior designers, architects, hospitality groups, retailers, project teams and design-led practices seeking to use leather beyond conventional upholstery.

We also support makers, contractors and specialist workshops where leather needs to be integrated cleanly into the wider design.

Early collaboration helps avoid delays, rework, difficult site changes and unnecessary compromise.

We are often brought in to solve late-stage issues, but our greatest value comes earlier, when ideas can still be tested and the right decisions can shape the result.
